Kathe Izzo
Conceptual performance artist Kathe Izzo has loved the world, one person at a time (for one day, one hour, one afternoon, evening or morning) for the last four years through her True Love Project. Most recently her work has been presented through Wild Gift (London), Artemis (Miami), Cinders (Brooklyn), Experimentica (Cardiff) and Highways (LA).
In March of 2006, she is initiating The Public Love Project (www.publicloveproject.com) where she will fall in love with various strangers selected for their diversity in age, nationality, race, gender identification and sexuality. These love affairs will take place in carefully chosen public spaces all over the world and will last for approximately 2 weeks each. The public is intimately invited.
To this date, Kathe has loved over 400 people, with only a few disgruntled patrons.
Transcripts of some of her early performances have been included in the infamous Jack Smith collection of writings, WAIT FOR ME AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POOL/Serpent's Tail Press and her essays, fiction & poetry have been published widely.
She is currently at work on her memoir, LOVE ARTIST.
